Welcome to my Journey
If you are tuning in to read this, thank you! I’m excited to have you on this journey with me. Starting a blog is an extremely new concept for me and, as I’m sure it is for many folks, it’s quite scary as well. The fear of having someone’s attention solely on what you are saying and the fear of judgement around that. This is the exact type of fear that I have decided I want to face front on. I believe that walking through fear is the ultimate path to growth. So, here we go! What is “A Year of Adventures” and why did I decide to do this?
To put it bluntly, one day I realized I was waking up bored. I felt I was constantly following the same routine – wake up, go to work, come home, cook dinner, go to bed, repeat. I’ll be honest, it’s not that I don’t do other fun things in my life. I love to travel (I do it quite a lot actually), go to music festivals, go to theme parks, etc. However, each of those things result in a pinpointed time frame of when my brain and life is stimulated. I then have to come back to the daily grind of “real life”. At the end of March, I finally put my foot down and decided I was going to try something different.
From my perspective, a lot of us have an all or nothing mindset. “If I can’t guarantee that I’ll do this task perfect, I am not going to do it at all!” I was ready to let go of this insecurity and take my first step forward. I sat down and picked 12 random activities that appealed to me. I’ll be doing one each month, sharing my experiences with you along the way.
Here is my “Year of Adventures”:
- April: Improv classes
- May: Go to different religious services
- June: Art classes
- July: Say yes to everything – within reason 😉
- August: Learn how to surf
- September: Dance classes
- October: Stop apologizing for everything
- November: Write a novel
- December: Appreciate your friends and family
- January: Toastmasters
- February: No social media
- March: Go skydiving
If anyone is interested in joining my journey, I’d love to have you along! You can contact me here and I’ll help in anyway I can. Tune in each month to get an update – until then remember….
You must act on your desire to change in order to receive the reward!
